The Girl Who Lost the Ability to Hear Mandy Harvey conquered America’s Got Talent 2017 with her energy and talent and won a special ticket to the live show.
In the contest posted on June 6, Mandy Harvey appeared on stage with a ukele and her performer. I looked at this photo and not only was I able to relive my happiest moments, but I also saw people applauding me in the language of the deaf. A small gesture that has the power to break down barriers in the community. I was overwhelmed by everyone’s love.
When asked by Judge Simon Cowell if she was deaf, Mandy Harvey honestly said she lost hearing when she was 18 due to a connective tissue disorder that weakened the nerves.
The disease caused the girl who loves to sing since the age of 4 to give up her passion for a while, then she decided to return to the love of her life, although it was not easy.
Mandy shared that she had to slowly relearn music using special methods and tools, mostly trusting her feelings.
On the stage of America’s Got Talent, Mandy also took off her shoes to feel the vibration of the stage, knowing the beat of the music he was playing.
Before Mandy’s departure, the whole auditorium stood up and gave her a round of deaf-tongue applause as she waved her hands above her head.
Less than 11 hours after its publication, the video recording of Mandy’s Facebook performance has garnered over 36.4 million views, 870,000 likes and over a million comments.
